Lesson 8 - Review Book I


The student demonstrates an understanding of the art principles taught in the first seven lessons and how these principles work together to form a unique piece of art. Requirements: The student is required to reproduce a seahorse demonstrating an understanding of the various pencil techniques learned to achieve good form, texture and value. The student also takes a comprehensive written objective examination.

Segment One - Basic Drawing


American Council on Education College Credit Recommendation: 4 semester hours

Basic Drawing consists of drawing fundamentals. It introduces a variety of drawing approaches aimed at sharpening the student’s ability to achieve accurate proportion, basic shapes and three-dimensional shapes and structure. It explores principles and techniques of using various pencil strokes to show texture, tone, depth and color. Emphasis is given to fundamentals of form to increase the student’s ability to draw realistically. The segment is divided into eight individual lessons, requiring the student to complete nine pieces of art to show mastery of the art concepts taught and a comprehensive objective examination.
