Segment Two - Ink, Color Rendering and Design


American Council on Education College Credit Recommendation: 4 semester hours

Prerequisite: The student is required to complete Section I before starting Section II

Ink, Color Rendering and Design consists of the creative use of a variety of art media and techniques. The student is introduced to drawing and shading projects and cartoon techniques, by using pen and ink, brush and ink and a combination of pen and brushwork. The segment explores the fundamentals of the color wheel and the psychology of color, value and scale of color as it applies to design principles, decorative or abstract artwork. Emphasis is given to the techniques for mixing and applying color schemes to increase the student’s ability to communicate with color. The segment is divided into six individual lessons, requiring the student to complete six pieces of art and a comprehensive objective examination.
